Happy Birthday, Philippines!
I wonder if how many of us really know the meaning of our Independence Day. I’ve heard Filipinos saying, “I’m too old to know remember what it means” or “I’m sorry I don’t know anything about it“. Unlike other countries who were conquered dominated by other powerful countries and were later liberated, ours isn’t much revered like theirs.
I had the chance to watch one time the celebration of the fourth of July and I can’t help but compare how Americans celebrate their Independence Day to how we do it here. It’s a joyous celebration with fireworks and all. 
I hope that we could appreciate more what the Filipinos did for the country years before, I don’t know how but maybe by simply being proud to be one or… Oh, well… just my two cents worth…
